Skywell New Energy Vehicles Delivers 249 Hydrogen Fuel Cell Buses in Guangzhou

From Skywell Press Release

Skywell New Energy Vehicles, via it’s collaboration with Chinese tech-giant Skyworth, has officially delivered the first batch of 249 hydrogen fuel cell buses in Guangzhou, China; marking a significant milestone in the city's transition toward cleaner public transportation.

The delivery was completed in collaboration with HTWO Guangzhou, Hyundai Motor Group's hydrogen fuel cell system subsidiary, and represents one of the largest single hydrogen bus deployments in China to date. The vehicles will be gradually introduced into Guangzhou's public transport network, supporting the city's long-term low-carbon zero emission mobility strategy.

Designed specifically for urban public transport, the hydrogen buses feature a low-floor, barrier-free layout and optimized interior space, to improve passenger comfort and disabled accessibility. Powered by HTWO Guangzhou's fuel cell system, the vehicles offer zero tailpipe emissions, fast hydrogen refuelling, and long operational range, making them well suited for high-frequency city routes.

This project reflects the combined strengths of Skyworth Auto's commercial vehicle engineering and manufacturing capabilities and HTWO Guangzhou's advanced hydrogen fuel cell technology. Together, the two companies aim to accelerate the large-scale adoption of hydrogen-powered public transport in China.

The deployment of this fleet is expected to contribute to reduced carbon emissions in urban transit operations while supporting the development of a local hydrogen mobility ecosystem in Guangzhou.

Looking ahead, Skywell New Energy Vehicles will continue to expand its electric and hydrogen-powered commercial mobility solutions, working with partners to support sustainable transport transformation in cities across China and beyond.
